Goodfriend & Associates (LSG&A), one of the top acoustical engineering firms in the country, is pleased to announce that the firm continues as an American Institute of Architects (AIA)/CES Registered Provider with a new presentation entitled “Acoustical Designs of Sustainable Schools”. “The Sustainable Design is a new requirement for AIA and our version of the presentation is designed to cover Health Safety and Welfare (HSW) and sustainable design in addition to offering 1 CEU credit for one hour of class time,” said Matthew T. Murello, P.E., president of Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates. “We have seen a definite demand for this particular class as I have already given the presentation over two dozen times to New York and New Jersey architects and I am currently scheduled for 10 more upcoming classes in Pennsylvania. We just want to get the word out there that we are ready for those who are interested in this topic.” Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates is an AIA/CES Registered Provider currently offering 1 CEU credit hour, approved as a Health Safety and Welfare (HSW) and sustainable design hour, for a presentation titled “Acoustical Designs for Sustainable Schools.” The presentation provides a review of the acoustical criteria established in the ANSI Classroom Acoustics Standard, LEED for Schools and the Green Guide for Schools. The presentation also describes the terminology of sound transmission, reverberation time and background sound levels. General acoustical design considerations are also discussed and examples of each of the topics discussed are presented. “Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates. “I couldn’t think of anyone more worthy of this nomination.” The Board of Directors for INCE/USA formally approved the grade of fellowship to honor and recognize publicly any member who has rendered service to the institute and has made notable or distinguished contributions to the advancement of noise control engineering or notably promoted knowledge of noise control engineering. The elected members will be known as “Fellow of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the USA”. Mr. Goodfriend, president of Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates from 1953 to 2002, is a consulting engineer serving clients in the areas of architectural acoustics, noise assessment and control programs for industry, communities and airports, as well as air conditioning noise control and product development. Lewis is a fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and the Audio Engineering Society, a past president and former member of the board of directors of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, member of the Consulting Engineers Council, the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Society for Testing and Materials. Additionally, Lewis served on the board of trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. Lewis also served as editor of The Journal of the Audio Engineering Society, Noise Control, a publication of the Acoustical Society of America, Sound and Vibration Magazine, Noise Control Engineering and Noise Control Engineering Journal of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering. Lewis received his degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1947 and his Master of Electrical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1952. Goodfriend & Associates (LSG&A), one of the top acoustical engineering firms in the country, welcomes two new employees to the firm. Ryan L. Skoug and Jack Zybura, staff engineers, were both hired as a direct result of Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates’ recent success and need for growth. “We are thrilled to be in this position; hiring quality new professionals to grow as key team members with the firm, said Matthew T. Murello, P.E., president of Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates. “Ryan Skoug and Jack Zybura are talented individuals who will prove to be invaluable assets to the LSG&A team.” Murello continues “Education and dedication are integral to the success of a growing firm. Skoug is a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, The Peter Kiewit Institute, where he received his Masters Degree in Acoustical Architectural Engineering. Ryan also received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he minored in music performance. While in school, Mr. Skoug was an acoustical consultant intern for D.L. Adams & Associates in Denver, CO and received various honors such as third place in the 2008 ASHRAE Student Design Project Competition for his HVAC system design, the ASA Robert B. Newman Award for Merit in Architectural Acoustics, UCARE Grant, Louis E. Pentzien Scholarship and the intern engineer certificate. Ryan currently resides in Budd Lake, N.J. with his wife Mary. Jack Zybura has been hired as a staff engineer to provide acoustical consulting engineering services to clients in areas of industrial, environmental, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) noise and vibration control, power generation noise control and building acoustics. Since arriving at Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates, Mr. Zybura has completed work for Robbinsville Township, N.J.; Brookdale Community College in Freehold, N.J.; Arlington County Water Pollution Control in Arlington, Virginia; Verizon Cape May Courthouse in Cape May, N.J.; Warren County Courthouse Data Center in Belvedere, N.J.; and Impact Insulation Terrace Normandy in New York, N.Y. Prior to joining Lewis S. Goodfriend & Associates, Jack was busy obtaining his Bachelor of Science in engineering, in acoustics& music, as well as a minor in mathematics, from the University of Hartford.
